The site of the study is located in the southwest part of Florence, on the borderline with Scandicci territory. In effect, the site represents a city composed of multitude of parts expressing the zoning logic of accumulation. This situation has rendered the necessity to weave together the current polar relationships into a comprehensive system; to consider the complexity of the space and the temporal mutation as the fundamental components in the phenomena of the ecological transformation of the site. At the base of this concept stands the fundamental relationship man-environment-society, which is the key interpretation for the dynamics upon which the urban project is articulated. In this light, the project is conceived as the systematic structure of the relationships found in the state of the dynamic equilibrium, such as the functional planning of habitable spaces with all its natural and social implications. The paradigm for such a conception is the city defined as “hyper-text city,” interpreting the hyper-text as the emergence of cognitive process, which is not necessarily linear, and in which any single user confers subjectivity upon what he considers important and permanent. This way the multiplicity of choice assumes the decisive role as long as the city identifies with the possibilities and references generated by the citizen-user. The hypothesis of connection formalizes itself as a circuit of co-existence between the connective flux of various vocational character: the circuit of exposition, infrastructure, didactics-recreation, and commerciality. If we were to consider the expositive circuit as the one upon which all others are based, we could observe how its divisive nature allows for the possibility of the non-consequential sequence of the events. The objective of this study is to observe a part of the city, which dialogs the urban continuity and, simultaneously, is capable to generate the processes unaffected by disconnection of space or time. The citizen-user’s interaction with the city is always capable of finding various and relevant ends. This way the city becomes an open work, a field of possibility, in the core of which is the permeability to the temporally unfolding events. On "Bateson" memory the learning process modifies the capacity for system’s learning, in the systematic and stochastic process of the self-regulation. In this context, one might notice the multipliable nature of dialogue between the double regime of immobility versus dynamic fluxes. The cut and folded plane of life has generated the interior spaces, hosts to various activities (restoration, video expo, learning center for agriculture, parking). This spatial transformation assists to the alteration of architectural themes, characteristic of the space. The definable heterogeneous fluidity materializes to accommodate the multiplicity of the views and interrelationships in the continuity of the space. The urban theme is also characterized by the presence of the recurrent subject matter (the thematically commercial exposition). It is a transverse theme, which is executed through the medium of small expositional boxes, which are capable to be assembled into infinite configurations along the tracks of the platforms. The boxes express the dynamic and luminous power of the tracks by recharging every time when are not in use by means of the solar energy captured by the photovoltaic panels on the roofs of the heads of the tracks. This way, the small scale of the design results to be tightly connected to the urban scale in the multiple unity changeable in time. |
